Amotekun Corps Records Major Security Successes Across Osun State

The Osun State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has announced a series of successful operations that have significantly reduced criminal activities across the state. The update was provided during a press briefing at the Corps’ new headquarters in Osogbo, addressed by the Corps Commander, Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele.

Dr. Omoyele highlighted the commitment of Amotekun to rid the state of criminal elements and emphasized the Corps’ continued dedication to due process and legal prosecution. “All apprehended suspects will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in line with the law,” he stated, adding that this serves both justice and deterrence.

Among the major incidents reported was the arrest of a cable thief, Aderemi Sheriff, at Hammed Omidiran University in Osogbo. Valued at ₦5.6 million, the stolen cables were partly set on fire before the suspect, an ex-convict, was apprehended.

In another case, a 26-year-old armed robbery suspect, John Uba, was arrested in Fiwasaye, Osogbo. The suspect, who had previously escaped from police custody, confessed to multiple crimes. He has since been handed over to the police for further investigation.

Also reported was the arrest of Saheed Babatunde, a 26-year-old man caught stealing iron steel worth ₦280,000. The suspect, already a repeat offender, confessed to selling the stolen materials for just ₦4,000.

In a burglary case at GRA, Osogbo, three individuals—Idowu Tajudeen, Bamanga Joffrey, and Femi Adeniyi—were arrested for stealing items including a pumping machine valued at over ₦8.5 million. The trio confessed to the crime, and legal proceedings have commenced.

Dr. Omoyele called on the public to remain vigilant and support the Corps by reporting suspicious activity. He revealed that Amotekun’s personnel strength now exceeds 1,450 officers, making the Corps more capable than ever of ensuring the safety of lives and property.

"The peace and security of Osun State is non-negotiable," Dr. Omoyele declared. "Criminals can run, but they cannot hide."

The Osun Amotekun Corps continues to position itself as a critical force in the state’s internal security framework.
