Kupoluyi and his stupid bid to discredit Ajibola Basiru.

 

It was in the wisdom of Achebe that he cleverly dissolved the philosophy of Africans in his proverb that "A child at her mother's back, does not know how long the journey is." This saying is instructive not only because it highlights the sacrifices that mothers shoulder just to be there for their vulnerable and ignorant children, but also because it speaks to the consuming challenges that circumscribe ignorant people. That a sane individual could summon the courage to address someone with the prefix of Senator to his name as lucky or incompetent underscores their congenital deformities than it reveals their insecurities. 

Perhaps Kupoluyi's memory is as fuzzy as his media career, and that is the basis for his incoherent take on a topic that is above his intellectual pay grade. No other way can we explain his uncharitable hypocrisy for forgetting how his messiah, Timothy Owoeye, was roundly defeated in his Local Government Area which barred his return as a member of the House of Assembly. Perhaps it was his incompetence that caused this. But how else can we discover the emptiness of Kupoluyi's cognition if he has not penned down a narrative that is not only hollow but also value-deficient about a man who has moved on the upward trajectory in his political career?

Competence is not a very difficult thing to measure, and unlike Kupoluyi and his paymasters, one's engagement in national discourse and how they proffer effective solutions are an indication of their inherent capabilities to transform a place and a system. National leaders of the party, APC, have attested to how invaluable the contributions of SRJ are to the country generally and the party particularly. If competence is judged by winning an election and seen as the backdrop for choosing flagbearers of the Party, perhaps the former Governor and current Minister of Blue and Marine Economy, is undeserving of that feat given his defeat at the polls in the last guber elections, an experience that eventually plunged the party into the abyss of confusion.

If 80% of Oyetola's cabinet members lost their polling units in the 2022 guber elections, does that mean they are incompetence-personified? We cannot underplay the import of constructive engagement, especially in matters affecting choosing our flagbearers, but when you weave up sentiment as indicated in your recent publication, you have shown the underbelly of your media pieces, and it oozes lack of class in all dimensions. Grow up.
